The biofidelic dummy object (PRIMUS Breakable) of AFUS GmbH. The project of AFUS Research Company was developed in close cooperation with EDAG Engineering, Crashtest-Service and the University of Applied Sciences Dresden.

Introduction

Experimental crash tests are very expensive and time-consuming. Therefore, the demand for simulation models based on the finite element method is increasing strongly. The development team at AFUS is also facing the new challenges of converting the Biofidel-Dummy into a simulation model.

Benjamin Härtel is an expert in the field of biofidel dummy modeling and simulation. He studied automotive engineering in Dresden, Germany. He spent his technical internship at the development center in Weissach at Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG. Mr. Härtel wrote his diploma thesis in the field of dummy development and biomechanics. Since 2017, he has been a research associate for crash-test dummy research topics and has contributed significantly to the development and design of the Biofidelic Dummy. In 2020, the activity of a PhD was additionally started.
